Homeschoolers Hit it Out of the Park on Academics

August 12, 2009
Homeschooling vs. Charter Schools
A new study on the academic performance of homeschooled youth is released - and homeschoolers are doing even better than they were ten years ago (in comparison with national averages). Averages hover around the mid to high 80 percentiles.
Kevin Swanson compares the 2009 study results with the last major study on homeschool academic performance from 10 years earlier. We also take a look at a major Charter School study conducted by Stanford's CREDO research organization, and the results are much less encouraging. Most Charter Schools are having a hard time getting off the 50 percentile mark. So why do homeschooling parents without teaching certificates and $10,000 per student funding yield results far better than the national average?
In a day when academic score are lagging and the character of a nation is collapsing, homeschoolers are excelling and there numbers are proliferating.
