Christian Community—Ghetto or Army Camp - Retreating or Advancing?

April 26, 2023

Will Christian community be characterized as a retreat center or a saltshaker? Will it be a ghetto or an army camp? Will it be distributing special grace or common grace? Will we escape the world, or will we overcome the world? What are the words used to describe Christian community in Scripture? What is the strategy for developing Christian community, and what is the relationship of the family to the church and the world out there? Why do Christians seek out a comfort zone, and settle into a retreatistic mentality? These are monumental questions addressed in this very informative discussion on this edition of Generations.

For those who are asking the question—What is AI, and should I be concerned? Here is a simple introduction to General AI and Narrow AI. For those who have the right worldview (a biblical worldview), here is the best interpretation of this man-invented system promising for the world another Tower of Babel. How does the Christian interact with it? Does the Christian family unplug from the matrix?

The American Bible Study poll found that 86 percent of US adults believe the nation is in moral decline, but what percent are contributing to it? And what are the reasons for it? But why the increase in the grossest manifestations of immorality? We suggest that sexual sin is encouraged by every one of our social institutions—political, educational, and cultural; and pretty much all restraints have been taken away. The inevitable result of all of this is more tyranny, or just plain divine judgment. But now how do God's people react to this?

The city of Minneapolis has approved of five-times-a-day public announcements for Islamic prayer. Islam is thought to be the fastest growing religion in the world, especially attractive among liberals. But why? The post-Christian world appears enthusiastic about anything that opposes the Christian faith, obviously. Why does Islam fill the vacuum left by a vacuous worldview like atheistic materialism?

Between 1989 and 2022, Disney's impact on America (as a percentage of the GDP) grew a whopping fifty-fold. The effects are pretty impressive, especially with the 14- to 24-year-old crowd. But what is the solution for parents? Go to a church that warns its members about Disney and assorted media that is geared towards stumbling children? What about your children interacting with other neighborhood children or church children whose families do not share your media standards?

The American Psychological Association has concluded that traditional masculinity is toxic to the nation. Competitiveness, male aggression, achievement, and risk are seen as threatening and toxic to the present social milieu. Do we really like "traditional" masculinity if that means able machismo and a tendency to want to commit sexual sin? What is true biblical masculinity? This is the crying need of the day—godly men, mature men, and men who are ready to lead in the family. We recommend this program for young men especially.

The most critical part of a homeschool curriculum must be . . . what? History. But how do you know you are teaching the RIGHT history? We go through some of the basics, drawing in Andrew Jackson, Samuel Worcester, Sheridan, Hitler, Nathan Bedford Forrest, and Eisenhower and the Warren Court. Be sure to hear the stories, but be sure you are aware of the absolutely indispensable elements of an essential, comprehensive, right-worldview-based history curriculum.

Conservatives are beginning to point to the spiritual realm as something of an active force in today's zeitgeist. It's hard to ignore the singular, phenomenal power these forces have had over the masses. . . . The rapidity at which these powers moved and the extent to which they achieved worldwide conquest was astounding. The whole operation took place over barely 70 years. Nothing short of a supernatural power could have brought this about. Rod Dreher, Jonathan Cahn, and Naomi Wolf all speak to this. Kevin Swanson provides a 150-year history of the demonic assault on our institutions here, beginning with Andrews Jackson Davis, the Foxes, Manley Palmer Hall, and Madame Blavatsky. This is transferred into the Pop Rock scene of the 1950s and 1960s, paving the way for the revolution. The testimonies tying directly into the occult from Elvis Presley, Little Richard, John Lennon, Jerry Lee Lewis, Keith Richards, Mick Jaggar, and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin fame will blow your mind.

China wants to preserve its national cultural identity. Russia wants to preserve its national cultural identity. The Muslim countries have a strong sense of cultural and religious identity. But the USA and Europe have abandoned their traditional Christian roots. They have become rootless, multicultural experiments, with the hope that internationalism will save them. Eastern Orthodox countries are retaining some traditional morality. But why are the Protestant countries turning into the worst countries in the world? We attempt an answer to the question here. The parallels between enthusiasm for perversion of marriage and median income across the nations in the world is astounding.

Gradually, the sexual revolution has taken down the country—and the transition for fornication occurred in 2004, the transition for homosexual marriage occurred in 2015, but what about transgenderism? The zeitgeist appears to have smacked against the wall. Have the Sexual Vandals gone a step too far? Public support for transgenderism has dropped off since 2017. The enthusiasm is waning, but not so much with Budweiser, the corporate minions, the cultural regulators, and the country music television awards. Have they overplayed their hand? At this point, the insane in the asylum are panicked that the sane might have discovered the insanity of it all. It turns out that country music is still finding roots in family, marriage, God, and country last time we checked.

Games. Porn. Slothfulness. Escapism. Drugs. Aimlessness. Whether the boy has grown up in a Christian church, Christian school, or a homeschooling family . . . high percentages of young men are wandering aimlessly, spiritually anemic, or dead . . . and there's not much a homeschooling mom can do for him anymore. Now what? Aaron Boldman from HelpMyBoy.com has had 22 years of experience with hundreds of young men like this. What do these boys need more than anything else?
