The attitude of pride is that it doesn’t matter what our Creator says—who designed us, knows what’s best for us, loves us, and died for us is at the root of pride. Knowing God and experiencing him in our lives is the best way to teach children about him. There is great pleasure and deep excitement in knowing God here on earth. When children are taught correctly about God—how loving he is but also, because he loves us, he doesn’t want us to get hurt so he has established limits to keep us safe. Just like fences and guardrails, these limits are to be obeyed always and they will be our guidelines for all of life.

God wants our obedience in parenting. In a world like today, we are under tremendous pressure to “raise them right.” If we are to be parents who honor God, we must remember a foundational truth of parenting: God wants our obedience first. So, whatever you are going to teach your children, you must be an example in that very thing, otherwise, you will be defeating your purpose.

We have always heard people say, “we must make the world better for our kids”. Or, “we must leave this world better than how we found it”. Both of those statements are true. But there is something missing. How about also raising better kids for that better world. We can strive to make the world a better place but if we don’t also raise better kids to take care of that better world, and even improve on it, they will just mess it up again.
