How to Live Out Your Plans, “The Lord Willing”

January 6, 2021

If we accurately believe God is directing all of his creation and even our lives, is it offensive to God to make plans? How do we know what the will of God is for our lives? Is it just taking our best guess or can we know for sure that we are in the center of God’s will for us?

You and I are in a culture clash war. These are dark times. People don’t know if they are coming or going. What is desperately needed is the light of truth to shine in these dark days so we can find our way back to a life that makes sense. It is not your truth or my truth but God’s truth. Only his ways can get us back on track like they did at the beginning.

Most of us sense that there are tremendous challenges ahead in this new year. The turmoil ignited in 2020 is not resolved. Also, due to previous wrong decisions made decades ago, many things are now out-of-control with no real solution in sight. Our value systems and our culture are rapidly deteriorating into more immorality and corruption on every front. But, there is hope on the horizon and we must work toward that goal.

The flipping of a calendar page makes no difference to God and the plan he is allowing to unfold on earth. God is not deterred by human events when it comes to his master plan for earth and humanity. I you believe in the God of the Bible, you understand the past and the present and who controls history. Using that as an indication, you have nothing to fear or be pessimistic about for this coming new year.

What God promises, he always fulfills. This is the case with the greatest promise he pronounced to the entire universe and the human race. That is, when he said he would come in human form to destroy sin and death. Jesus became a human so that human beings could eventually have a new nature - a perfect one, and one day we can be like him.

Think about it. Why would God, with all that he has at his disposal, want to become confined and limited in a human body? Can your mind even wrap itself around that concept? The truth is that he did!  His coming to earth in human form was a given and a necessity to redeem what was damaged because of sin. This is what God promised.

“All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle.”  - St. Francis of Assisi. It is not too difficult to become fearful and intimidated in the dark times of life. However, whenever light is present no matter how small it may be, darkness has to flee. The question is where do you get your light from and is it true light or an imitation?

Acts of kindness can be done by all. Some require more commitment than others, but we are all exhorted to give of ourselves without expecting anything back. During this season of giving and sharing let us not lose sight of what is truly important.

Most of the news that gets reported or emphasized is bad or a real challenge, to say the least. But not all that is happening in the world and around us is bad. As we are gearing up in this Christmas season, let’s also emphasize some of the good things that are happening around us to be encouraged and to keep hope alive that there is a better tomorrow.

The convulsions of change in America don’t show signs of stopping any time soon. But not all is lost because God has not died and he is still governing the universe. It is true, however, that he sets limits of sin in humans where he will only let us go so far and then because of his grace and justice, he steps in lest we completely destroy ourselves. Have we reached that time?

What kind of a scatterbrain idea is that? Or should I say dangerous idea? "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God. For it is written, “He is the one who catches the wise in their craftiness” (1 Corinthians 3:19). But God is not going to do all the work. We must be vigilant and work as a team with him to keep ourselves from harming ourselves.

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
