The Future of America

African American History Month Part 2

February 7, 2019

America is a very unique country on many fronts than any other nation that has ever existed. The strict adherence to the Word of God by the Puritan pulpit definitely set the value systems in place in the beginning of this “new world”, so to speak. America became a melting pot of many people from many lands and brought them under the umbrella of a government and society based on biblical principles. This is no longer the case. But all who come here have an opportunity to learn what made America great and they too can accomplish great things far above and beyond.

It gives me great pleasure to address this subject in this program since it is not talked about enough and many Americans, including African Americans, are oblivious to this richness in our American history. If the well-known American history is not taught properly in schools anymore, you can be certain that African American history is not even mentioned let alone taught. Let us briefly delve into this topic.

I was deeply, deeply touched, almost to the point of tears, by the content of this article that I want to share with all of you today. It was published in the Culture section of the Western Journal on February 3, 2019. There are many things happening in our world today that God is very displeased about because he has made his position very clear on each of them. There is nothing new happening under the sun that has not happened before, and that God knew would sooner or later be part of the sinful nature of humans.

One of the strongest arguments presented by those who believe and promote abortion is that it is “medically necessary” for the health of the mother. For abortion supporters, “health” doesn’t mean a life-threatening condition could result if a pregnancy goes full term. Ladies and gentlemen, we must face this reality head on and reverse this killing spree of innocent life before God’s full wrath comes upon us and we are finished. Ask yourself, what you can do today to join the ranks of those of us who are fighting to save these innocent babies?

Almost all of us sense the increase in the war on the abortion issue. And that is a good thing because it is bringing much needed attention to review what a horrendous atrocity this is.  We cannot continue to pretend that it doesn’t matter and that it comes with the territory of acquiring and securing more rights for everyone, especially women. "Do not kill the innocent and the just, for I will not acquit the guilty" (Exodus 23:7).

Believers have been praying and marching for abortion to be illegal once again in this country. When this day comes, will the Church be ready to accept the challenges that will come with that? Let us be sober about this reality and dutifully work to meet the needs for when that day comes whether we get to see it or not. Each generation is responsible for what they pass on to the next one.

After sin entered the human race, any degeneracy is possible. These behaviors are so ancient that God included instructions on them in the Bible as far back as the books of the law and they are clear so there is no doubt on how God considers these behaviors. When it comes to sexual behavior, a civilization headed for a fall will, sooner or later, manifest all the depravation that people can create in their rotten imaginations.

The Sabbath must not be reduced to its outward observances. It must be understood in a worldview that recognizes the fully accomplished work of God. We rest in that work; we celebrate it, and face a new day refreshed. He has given us an exclusive day to worship Him, an earthly sabbath. The principle of rest carries over into the New Covenant. Questions about what you can or cannot do on the Lord’s Day miss the point as they tend to be scholastic. Rest from God's perspective encompasses everything pertinent to life and requires determination, commitment and planning on our part.

The fact that God made the seventh day holy is for us to also regard it as holy in our observance. It used to be that in America, all businesses would close on Sunday. The rest from labors was for real. The streets looked deserted except for the families going to and from church. There were no sports events on Sundays either. These days there is no difference. The creation represented a promise of God’s provision for man. The exodus was His setting of the stage for a future under His law. The disciples knew Jesus had firmly established His Kingdom of Heaven here on earth and thus delivered rest to whosoever will believe and accept him.

Making time to rest has to be purposeful planning. If we wait until we have nothing else to do to begin resting, we will be in deep trouble spiritually, mentally and physically. It is tragic that among many Christian circles and denominations it is taught that the Old Testament Law is no longer for us these days. But that is a partial false teaching. Not only are we still commanded to obey the Ten Commandments but all that regulates them in the books of the Law.

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). The first impression we have of this verse is how it has been used, for the most part, as a verse to present salvation in Christ. And it certainly is appropriate since the salvation experience and the forgiveness of sins truly bring a great rest and relief to our spirit. There is nothing else like it. But, as time passes in life, we all know how crazy busy life can get and we fall into routines sometimes that can zap the strength and joy from us as we get distracted and there are days when we can feel heavy burdened and tired. Do we think about what Jesus said?

About The Future of America

We want to help restore America's original foundation in biblical Christian principles which made it the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world in a relatively short time but America has not reached it full potential. Ideas have consequences and they are passed on from generation to generation. To eradicate error, the moral and ethical principles of the Bible must be firmly established in the hearts and minds of each individual. If America is going to survive, its citizens must become re-acquainted with its history, heritage and biblical immovable principles and apply them once again to all areas of life. We hope this program will inspire and challenge you so together we can fulfill our responsibility before God and country to make the difference for our generation many generations to come.
