S3, Ep12 The God of Impossibles: The Story of Gideon
Villainous Vander has finally completed Project X—a portal warp he plans to use to take down the squad! Stuck in a mysterious Pathway that leaves the squad in the middle of a dangerous battle and with the Airship out of power, will they be able to get home? Join the squad as they learn with God, you can do the impossible!
Turning Point: Take flight on the Airship Genesis and join in the legendary Bible adventures of the Genesis Exploration Squad. Cameron, Gabby, Logan, Wyatt, Emma, and our pet monkey, Jules.
Five incredible adventurers entrusted with an airship that can take them anywhere in the world, powered by a special Bible that also opens pathways to the past. There is no telling where they will end up on their search for history's legendary artifacts. And then, of course, there is me, their trusty AI companion, Rupert. Welcome aboard.
Master Cyrus: Oh, Norton, there you are. The state of my roses is atrocious. You were supposed to lightly mist them morning, noon, and night.
Norton: Oh, Master Cyrus, my deepest apologies, sir, sire, most beloved master. It is just, well, I have been a little busy.
Master Cyrus: Busy? Oh, I am sorry. Is there some other villain's daffodils taking up all your time?
Vander: Well, no, Norton has actually been helping me, Father, with my most insidious invention yet: Project X.
Norton: Project X? Yeah, we talked about Project X in episode six, remember?
Master Cyrus: Oh, never mind. Project X.
Vander: Project X is now complete. A portal warp! And with this, today is the day we can take down that Exploration Squad for good!
Emma: Beakers go there, and cracked beakers go in this box. Let's see, I will probably never use this wiring either, or these plugs.
Wyatt: Hello, Emma? Are you somewhere in this lab?
Emma: Down here, cleaning out my old lab equipment. I thought I got rid of more than that. Let's see, beakers go here and wiring back here. Wait a second. Jules, have you been stealing all the junk I am getting rid of? You have! Put it back! Come on, give it, give it! He has been very into collecting things lately.
Logan: Well, I can see why he might want to take some of this. The wiring is still in pretty good shape.
Emma: Not you too!
Wyatt: What was that? A pathway is about to open. Rupert, Squad, Wyatt here. Come down to the complex. There is a pathway.
Rupert: Wyatt, we are on our way.
Emma: Oh, Jules, you cannot put your trinkets inside my tunic. I am not going to carry around a bunch of junk on this pathway.
Logan: What a nice day it is in wherever we are.
Rupert: According to my GPS, we are in the land of Ophrah, a town in Israel, somewhere between 1191 and 1144 BC.
Gabby: Never heard of it, but it sure is pretty with all these trees.
Emma: Oh, I agree, especially with that big Quercus.
Logan: Gesundheit, Sis.
Emma: No, Logan, the oak tree by the barn. Its scientific name is Quercus.
Logan: Ah, gotcha.
Rupert: Does anyone else hear that grinding noise? I believe it is coming from inside that large barn.
Wyatt: You are right, Rupert. Look under that tree. Someone is sitting there. I can see sandals and feet.
Logan: She's right. And the barn, it is opening. Quick, everyone hide!
Gideon: Come on, Dinah, you donkey. You have helped me thresh enough grain for the day.
Angel of the Lord: The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.
Gideon: Whoa! Oh, you scared me. I did not see you under that tree. Oh, you say the Lord is with me, huh? Right. You must not be from around here. Excuse me, but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all His wonders that our ancestors told us about? No, God has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian. I mean, look at me. I am threshing grain in secret, hiding it from the Midianites so we don't starve.
Angel of the Lord: Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. I am sending you, Gideon.
Gideon: Lord, is that you? Save Israel? How can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh and me, Gideon, I am the least of my family.
Angel of the Lord: I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.
Gideon: I don't believe this. Well then, if I have ever found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you, the Angel of the Lord, talking to me. Don't go away until I come back and bring an offering to you.
Angel of the Lord: I will wait here under the oak tree until you return.
Emma: Rupert, who's that man under the tree? He looks familiar. If he just turned his face towards us...
Rupert: According to Gideon, that is the Angel of the Lord.
Logan: Gideon doesn't seem 100% sure that's who it is, though.
Gabby: And he doesn't look like any other angels we have seen. He looks kind of like, well, Jesus.
Logan: Hey, I think that guy Gideon is coming back, and with food.
Gideon: Okay, here we are. I have prepared goat, broth, and bread for you, my Lord.
Angel of the Lord: Take the meat and the unleavened bread, place them on this rock, and pour out the broth.
Gideon: There. Wait, what are you doing? You cannot eat it with your staff. Oh, heavens above! Fire! You just set fire to the rock and the food and... wait, where did you go, Lord? He is gone. Oh, alas, Sovereign Lord! I have seen the Angel of the Lord face to face!
Angel of the Lord: Peace. Do not be afraid, Gideon. You are not going to die.
Gideon: Oh, Lord.
Wyatt: Witches and wheelies, this is totally neat.
Emma: Is that another pathway opening up again?
Cameron: It cannot be. We haven't got the legendary artifact yet, right, Rupert?
Rupert: Right, Gabby, but there is definitely something peculiar occurring with the pathway.
Cameron: Squad, get to the airship now! What's happening, Rupert?
Rupert: I am not entirely sure, Gabby. According to my pathway receptor, the pathway is struggling to open correctly.
Cameron: Everyone get strapped in quick! What is it?
Gabby: The airship, it is about to jump!
Emma: Oh no, oh no. Are we home? We never got the legendary artifact.
Rupert: Pardon me, Emma, but my scans indicate we are not back in the present.
Logan: What? Then where are we, Rupert?
Rupert: We have arrived at the Hill of Moreh, not too far from the site where we just visited Gideon.
Cameron: What is it, Cam? Well, I am just concerned. The pathway's acting strange.
Logan: Oh, come on, Cam. We know pathways can be unpredictable. Plus, maybe this is another shot to find the artifact.
Cameron: Well, all right. I guess we should at least try to complete this mission, even if it is out of the ordinary.
Logan: That's the spirit. Go ahead. Let's go, Squad.
Emma: Whoa, it is pitch black out here.
Logan: Does anyone else smell smoke?
Gabby: What?
Logan: I say we find out where it is coming from. Rupert, you can see in the dark, lead the way.
Rupert: Right, Logan. Watch your step now.
Emma: What was that?
Logan: Through these trees, I think it came from over here. Guys, I think I found where the fire is coming from. Hide behind these trees!
Gabby: Wow, all those men. Why do they have fire inside glass jars? And are those trumpets?
Gideon: A sword for the Lord and for Gideon!
Wyatt: Guys, I think we just walked in on a war!
Emma: That is not all. The army, they're coming this way!
Cameron: Back to the airship, now! Logan, go!
Logan: I can't! I need a pathway to fly through. Rupert, what do I do?
Rupert: Gabby's right, a pathway is necessary to exit the situation. But according to my pathway receptor, there is no energy surge available.
Emma: What does that mean?
Wyatt: Oh, it means we are stuck.
Logan: What? Stuck?
Vander: Poor Exploration Squad. Vander here. Oh, wonderful. You can hear me. Look at you all stranded there like a bunch of sitting ducks.
Wyatt: Vander? This is your doing?
Vander: Oh no, this is my genius! You see, when I realized that your special Bible was out of my reach and you'd continue to go through your little pathways, I had an idea. Maybe I could not stop your missions, but I could stop you from coming back!
Gabby: Stop us from coming back?
Rupert: Oh dear.
Cameron: You cannot do this!
Vander: Oh, but I already have. Say goodbye to your little Rocket Cove, your families, your miserable lives! This is the end, Exploration Squad. Your airship may have tried to fight back a little, but with my portal warp disrupting your pathway, you're stuck forever!
Master Cyrus: Vander, dinner's ready!
Vander: Oh, Father! I am in the middle of ruining lives!
Master Cyrus: Oh, right. Continue.
Vander: Like I said, Squad, this is the end. See you, well, never.
Emma: No! What do we do? What do we do?
Cameron: Rupert, tell us. Is there anything we can do?
Rupert: Well, no. If Vander is blocking the pathway, then without a separate energy conductor, there will be no pathway home.
Logan: But there's an army outside. Maybe they're a nice army. Are they, Rupert?
Rupert: The army you saw is Gideon's army.
Emma: Is that what the Angel of the Lord meant when he said Gideon would strike down the Midianites?
Rupert: Yes. God used Gideon to lead those 300 men and defeat 120,000 Midianites.
Gabby: But why were they smashing jars and blowing trumpets?
Rupert: Well, Gideon's men scared the Midianites so badly with all that noise, the Midianites began to fight against each other, and then they fled. You see, it was God who really defeated the Midianite army. He made them turn against each other and gave Gideon and his men strength to win an impossible battle.
Logan: I understand that Gideon is the good guy in the story, but I still don't want his men to find us on the airship.
Wyatt: Logan has a point. We cannot stay here. Wyatt, can't you just invent something to get us out of here?
Wyatt: I wish. I mean, I can get energy from the airship to give an extra jolt to the Bible on the control board, but I need tools and things like wire, plugs, and magnets to create an energy transformer. Even then, it might be impossible.
Emma: Jules, now is not the time to be playing with your trinkets. Wait a second. Wire! Plugs! Magnets! Wyatt, Jules has exactly what you need right here!
Cameron: And not a moment too soon. If we don't get out of here, they will find us.
Wyatt: What? No. I can't. I've only built a transformer once, and there is more of a chance I'd blow us up than save us.
Cameron: Wyatt, listen. You're our only hope. Just try.
Wyatt: Okay, but I will need help. Gabby and Logan, you will have to run this wire from inside the airship to outside. We will need a circle of it big enough for the airship to fly through. Maybe try hanging the circle from the trees. If I can do this, the wire will act as an energy transmitter and the pathway will appear inside of the circle.
Logan: On it. No problemo.
Wyatt: Okay, so I need the magnet to start. We did it! There is a giant wire circle hanging from the trees just in front of us. But the army is definitely getting closer.
Logan: Good thing I am good at climbing. Wyatt, where are we at?
Wyatt: I think I've got it. We should probably strap in though.
Cameron: You heard him, Squad. Get ready!
Gabby: All right, starting up the airship. Here we go. Three, two, one!
Emma: Did it work?
Wyatt: No, it didn't! See, I told you I couldn't do this! I am just the little guy. You need someone smarter, a better inventor than me. This is impossible! We're going to be trapped here forever!
Cameron: Impossible? No, Wyatt. Remember what Gideon said? He thought he was the weakest and he could never defeat the Midianite army. But with God's help, he did. We just saw him do it! God will help you. You can do this with His strength.
Gabby: Yeah, Wyatt, we just watched God use Gideon to defeat an impossible army. Maybe you just need to ask God for help.
Wyatt: I don't know. Gideon's different. He's a Bible hero. I am just a kid.
Emma: Wyatt, if there is anything we have learned over past pathways, it is that Bible heroes are just regular people with an extraordinary God.
Logan: Yeah, Gideon felt the same way you do, but God did the impossible. Ask Him. Ask Him for help.
Wyatt: Okay. God, I can't get us home without You. I am not smart enough and I am not strong enough. But You are. You can do it. Help me, Jesus. Help us get home. Amen. Here I go again. Ready?
Gabby: Amen.
Cameron: Yeah.
Logan: Let's go.
Wyatt: Three, two, one!
Emma: Oh my lanta, it is working!
Wyatt: He did it! God answered me!
Logan: Extreme! All right, Wyatt, what do we do next?
Wyatt: You have to fly through the wire circle. But don't let the wings touch it, or we will all be fried.
Emma: Fried?
Wyatt: And hurry! Our time is running out before the transmitter burns too hot and before we are seen.
Logan: Okay. Hold on, people. Here we go!
Wyatt: Home! I am never leaving you again.
Emma: I cannot believe it. Those villains almost thwarted us again.
Logan: Yeah, but we are safe. We might have to take out that portal warp before we head out again, but we are safe. I'd like to see Vander's face when he finds out we escaped his plan again.
Rupert: And good news, you have managed to collect the legendary artifact. I am uploading it now.
Cameron: All right! We must have picked it up during all that noise. What is it, Rupert?
Wyatt: Why, I believe they are seeds. Those are Quercus seeds! Oh, wait, I know this one. Oak tree seeds, right?
Logan: Yeah, but why did we collect seeds? Beats me. I have no idea.
Wyatt: Don't you see? You remember the oak tree. It grew from a seed just like these, but not on its own. God grew the tree. I think that is like Gideon or any of the Bible heroes we have seen. They start as these little seeds, but when they ask God for help and trust Him, He does what seems impossible. He grows them into strong people of faith, just like the strong oak tree.
Rupert: I think Wyatt is onto something.
Logan: Yeah, like when God fulfilled His promise and gave Abraham a son. Then through that son, He gave him descendants like the stars.
Emma: Or when Elijah asked God to bring down fire and show all those false prophets who was really God. It was God who did the miracle.
Logan: Yeah, just like Jesus met Paul on the road to Damascus and turned him into a man of God after he had hurt all those Christians.
Gabby: Totally. And remember Ruth? She trusted in God after losing everything, and He gave her a new home, a new family, and she became a part of Jesus's bloodline.
Wyatt: Exactly. We have been on so many pathways, but they all have one thing in common. God is the one who does the miracles. He defeats armies, brings down fire, He raised people from the dead, He gives people new families, all so that we will know that He is a God who can do the impossible.
He is the God who can take people like you and me and turn us into people of great faith. He deserves the glory and the honor and our worship and our hearts! Amen!
Turning Point: Thank you for joining us for season three of Airship Genesis: The Legendary Bible Adventures. If you remember one thing, remember this: God is your strength, and He can do the impossible. You may be a regular person, but you have an extraordinary God. We will see you next season aboard the Airship Genesis.
Dr. J: Hey, Squad. Wow, I cannot believe it is already the end of season three.
Gabby: Trust us, we cannot either, but we have learned so much.
Cameron: Actually, Dr. J, we do have one last question for you.
Dr. J: Sure, Cameron.
Cameron: Well, throughout the season, we have seen time and time again how God has used regular people by giving them His strength and growing their faith. Do you know a verse that we can all learn so we can always remember that we serve an extraordinary God?
Dr. J: Well, I sure do, Squad. Here it is. It is 1 Chronicles 29:11, and it goes like this:
"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all."
Wyatt: Wow, I love that. Thanks, Dr. J, for answering all of our questions this season. You've taught us so much.
Turning Point: Hey friends, we just want to say thanks for joining us on all our adventures. We had a totally amazing, extremely cool time learning about God. And we also hope you learned lots of neat stuff too.
We also hope you'll join us next season for a plethora of new adventures. Plethora? Really, Sis? Sorry, a whole bunch of new adventures. There, English! We cannot wait to begin a new season, but well, some things never change. See you next time! Bye!
