But when you are barely hanging on and need reinforced support, God will also encourage you through your sharing and connecting with your people—his people that he shines in and through just for you, his beloved.
Worldliness distracts from pure-heart devotion to God. What might you need to let go of today to experience the goodness of God?
The word “hospitality” used in this verse comes from the Greek word meaning to be hospitable and to show love to strangers. Combine that with the readiness to help people in need, and we see the Body of Christ. Whether in our homes or out in the world, we show Jesus to others when we are gracious, generous, and genuine.
These days, humility seems to be almost a forgotten word. Amid America’s prosperity has emerged prideful worldliness, set on dragging even the most devout Christians down with it.
When we are feeling a lack of acceptance, we try to find acceptance in any way possible. As believers, we need to remember that our worth, value, and acceptance are in Jesus. Before the beginning of time, the Father has loved us and chosen us to be adopted as His children through Jesus.
