An Invitation for Faith

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV®)

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

For a long season of my life, I was terrified to really say yes to the Lord. I assumed that if I did, He would dismiss every dream I had and send me down the Amazon River in a dugout canoe. As years have passed I have discovered how wrong that notion was. He has used my gifts and talents in ways that I had never dreamed. Saying yes to the Lord is the most rewarding, adventuresome, challenging invitation that’s available to any human being. That has been my personal experience, and I’ve also observed it in the lives of others. You may be thinking, “If only I had more information!” I’ve never made a God-choice yet where I felt like I had all the information I would like to have. But if I had, that would have eliminated the need for any faith at all. Cooperate with God’s invitations. It will make an eternal difference in your life.

THINK ABOUT IT

What invitation is before you today? Are you pondering a relationship, or a financial choice, or a career change? If you recognize that the invitation is from God, confidently choose to follow His leading.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, You are King of kings and Lord of lords. My life is uncertain at times, and I struggle with saying yes to Your invitations. Today I yield to You. I choose to trust You and Your plans for me even though I don’t understand everything that lies ahead. I believe that You know what is best, and that You will make my path straight. In Jesus’ name, amen.
