Spiritual Darkness

And David says: “Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a recompense to them. Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see, and bow down their back always.”
Romans 11:9-10

Paul knew that even though Israel had knowledge of the Old Testament Scriptures, they were utterly blind to the truth. He quoted from Psalm 69:22-23, repeating what David had said about Israel’s rejection of Christ. They stumble on this precious Stone––the Chief Cornerstone (Isaiah 28:16). God spoke prophetically through David. In his time, David saw Israel’s apostasy, even as Paul brought to light the Jews rejection of God in his time. The Jews could have had the blessing of salvation, but instead they remained for now in the darkness of their unbelief.

God chastened Israel for their disobedience. Now as Israel remains in spiritual darkness, in their great trials and testings, the Gentiles have been given a great opportunity––the door of salvation is open to them. You see, God has allowed the Jews to be blind for a long period of time so that the Gentiles could be saved.

There are a number of people, a remnant of the Gentiles that are going to be saved, and when that last person, whoever that maybe comes to Jesus Christ––then it is done. The dispensation of the Gentiles will now be over, and the beginning of the last seven years of world history begins. God loves Israel, and during the Tribulation Period, He has a certain number of Jews, a remnant that He will save.

People become discouraged, but we have to walk by faith. Intellectual darkness comes through ignorance; spiritual darkness comes because of something I do not intend to obey.
