Resolve Issues

So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.
Romans 14:12-13

This is an important Scripture; underline or highlight it in your Bible: So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Never forget this Scripture. This is the Word of the Lord. God is the One who keeps the records; He knows exactly what is going on. Imagine, we are going to be judged by the Lord one day! Be careful.

Therefore, Paul made a strong appeal to Christians not to judge anyone. Stop judging! Paul was addressing the weak and the strong in the body of Christ, because they were both judging each other. Murmurers, complainers and division makers destroy the work of God. The word resolve means “to settle the issue.” Paul wanted this issue settled once and for all––he did not want to hear about these trivial issues again!

Think of how many people leave the church because of believers who have failed to show them genuine love. God will hold them responsible! The Greek word to stumble means “to trip when a person strikes his foot against something.” When people are made to trip or fall––sadly nobody in the body of Christ stops to help lift them back up. Instead, Christians often kick people when they are down––sad––real sad.

God intends for us to lift these people back up in love. Sometimes we need to apologize to people we have hurt and caused to stumble. Christians are to be kind and forgiving. This is how we help people move forward.

Christians must walk according to the Spirit and die to themselves. Then they will become more effective in the world. They will see a dead man walking, which means they are alive to Christ and dead to themselves. That is the key! They will have the right heart toward people. Those watching a Christian’s life will be touched by the Gospel of Jesus Christ without them saying a single word!

We are the Bibles the world is reading; we are the creeds the world is needing; we are the sermons the world is heeding.
