Christ’s Return at Hand

The night is far spent and the day is at hand….
Romans 13:12

Paul used a metaphor of day and night to give a sense of time in knowing the future. He made reference to the Rapture of the Church. If you look into the horizon in the morning, you can see the red hues stretch above the mountains––it is a beautiful sight. Then, during sunset over the sea, you can watch the same warm colors spread across the night sky, as the sun seems to sink into the sea. If we easily understand when night is drawing near and day is dawning, then surely, by looking at the signs of the times, we know Christ’s return is nearing.

In the Bible, the sign of the fig tree is in reference to Israel (Luke 21:29-31). God said, “Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all things take place” (Luke 21:32). Israel became a nation on May 14, 1948; that could possibly mean that Christ’s return may happen in the lifetime of my grandchildren, and yours! This Scripture in Luke gives us great insight into the future, before the Antichrist appears on the scene, that generation will be taken in the Rapture. I really believe that we are living in the last days, and Jesus will come in this generation.

I am not here to create fear, but I do want to warn the body of Christ that they need to know the Word of God like never before. I believe we are living in a time when false prophets will come, and they will proclaim a false Gospel (Matthew 24:4, 24). Therefore, you need to know theology; otherwise, you will become a candidate for apostasy.

People are living in such horrible days, and yet they do not even see it. The temperature of the Church is drastically changing. Many people are growing cold in their relationship with Christ (Matthew 24:12). Churches are closing, and the Gospel is no longer affecting people’s lives. As a pastor, I need to prepare people because they need to know all the doctrines of the Bible––the Word of God. Seriously, know the Word of God and study it! People need to know God intimately.

Bible teaching about the Second Coming of Christ was thought of as “doomsday” preaching. But not anymore. It is the only ray of hope that shines as an ever brightening beam in a darkening world.
