Preparing for Tumultuous Times

For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same.
Romans 13:3

Many believers in Christ lived right in the heart of the Roman Empire, an empire that was ruling and reigning the entire known world. Paul wrote to Christians in a tumultuous time. There was great oppression against them and fierce persecution on the horizon. Yet as much as possible, Christians were urged to obey these harsh rulers and to do what was good.

What are people feeling today? Oppression! There are those in government positions who are placing immense pressure on the Church and on people’s lives. Nothing feels normal, as the world keeps changing. We are living in very tumultuous times, and people are very depressed.

I think about the trillions of dollars that government has misspent––the enormous deficit. The way things are going, it will be difficult for people to retire. In fact, there are many people who have lost all their retirements already! Even though there is so much financial corruption in the world today, before God, honor His Word and do what is good and honorable. Remember, Caesar is not Lord––Jesus is Lord!

Seriously, reading the Bible is like reading the newspapers today! In these last days, I feel the devil is running out of time. It is as if God is allowing people to feel and have a little taste of how life is going to be under the reign of the Antichrist. During this period, there will be the revived Roman Empire.

Christians need to know the Bible and be prepared to share with people about biblical prophecy so they can understand what is happening. People are anxious, and they need the Lord. Christianity has given great freedoms to the entire world. As we believe in Jesus Christ, and obey the Word of God, may we be lights to the world in this dark time.

The best way to prepare for the coming of Christ is never to forget the presence of Christ.
