Keeping on Course
Then Achish called David and said to him, “Surely, as the Lord lives, you have been upright, and your going out and your coming in with me in the army is good in my sight. For to this day I have not found evil in you since the day of your coming to me. Nevertheless the lords do not favor you. Therefore return now, and go in peace, that you may not displease the lords of the Philistines.”
1 Samuel 29:6-7
King Achish saw David as a man of integrity. He recognized the anointing of God in David’s life. Even thoughthe Philistines did not worship God, because Dagon was their god,Achish knew that the Lord was David’s sustainer in every situation!David was known as a worshiper of Jehovah. Yahweh––Elohim––was his God!
The Philistines were ready for war; they would come against Saul and eventually kill him. God did not want David to be a part of this battle, so He removed him from the situation. Otherwise, David would not be blameless. In coming against the Lord’s anointed, he would be guilty before the Lord. God had better plans for David–– he would be King of Israel.
I love the way God works in the different situations and circumstances of our lives. Did you ever stop to think that God removes you out of a place or a situation because he can see farther down the road than you can see? In His foreknowledge, He already knows what is going to happen in your life.
However, in God’s sovereignty, He still gives you a free will. You can choose to do right or wrong. As a Christian, you are the only one who can keep yourself on course. You are the only one who can cancel what God planned and intended for your life. Understand, God will use your life as long as you are open to His will.
When your will is God’s will, you will have your will.
