Grace Given to Me

Nevertheless, brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God, that I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:15-16

The grace of God was given to Paul. He now knew that Jesus was the only way, the only truth, and the only life. Through grace, Paul’s public, official ministry to the Gentiles was given to him by God. He ministered to the Gentiles, serving them by giving them the Gospel of God.

The Gentile church had gathered an offering. Paul would carry this offering to the poor in Jerusalem. There were those in the city who had nothing to eat, and they needed clothing. Paul thanked the Gentiles for their offering to the Jews. Interestingly, the Jew had no dealings with the Gentiles, but the offering from the Gentiles was an act of love. They gave to those in need––whether Jew or Gentile.

Most of us have a home, a bed, a car, and all the other necessities we need. Most of us have seen someone on the street who is in need. They have nowhere to lay their head, and they are in need of food. Perhaps the reason they are homeless that they are on drugs. In that case, it is unwise to give them money, but I do give them food. Yet how many people will drive past a homeless person without a thought for them? Often the homeless are despised and even hated.

Some people choose to live on the streets, but others have fallen on hard times. They do not have a home, money or food. We have been blessed with so much, while they have nothing. May God speak to your heart to help those in need. It is an act of love that demonstrates Christ’s love to them.

Honestly, the best you can give them is Christ. If they reject the Gospel, that is their problem, but you have done your utmost in giving them Christ.

“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you!”
