Satisfaction

Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away. For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.
James 1:9-11

James addressed both the poor and the rich in the Church. Those who werepoor should not feel sorry for themselves; they needed to realize how rich they were in Christ. In fact, the Apostle Paul wrote:  For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9).Take the time to read Ephesians 1-3; you will gain a greater understanding of how rich you are in Christ.

For those who are rich in this world, James taught them not to be boastful because riches are fleeting––material gains fade away. A rich man cannot take his money with him when he dies. I have known some rich people who have grown older, faster, because they worry about their riches. Even though people become rich, they often remain unhappy––miserable.

Howard Hughes became a millionaire at the age of 18! Having made many successful financial business pursuits, he went on to become an eccentric billionaire. Yet he eventually lived the rest of his life as a recluse. When he died, he was nearly unrecognizable. Despite being so rich, he was malnourished, had bed sores, and had grown his hair, his finger nails and toe nails long.

Whether poor or rich, whatever God has given you in this life, be satisfied and give Him the glory.

It is better being rich in grace than rich in purse.
