Implanted Word of God

Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
James 1:21

James exhorted Christians and gave them the solution of how to be clean vessels for God to use. The solution was to lay aside all filthiness and all wickedness in their lives, so that their hearts would be clean. Only then could  they receive the Word of God with all meekness.

The word meekness means that you are going to have the humility to receive what God desires to speak to your heart. You have an open heart to the Lord; there is no hardness––anger or bitterness. No one can receive God’s Word in meekness unless they turn from sin! You need to turn away from sin and welcome the Word of God in our lives as if opening a door and inviting someone in.

Understand, the Word of God will save your soul! I believe if anybody dies with bitterness and unforgiveness in their heart, they will not go to heaven (Matthew 6:15). The Bible teaches if you have anything against your brother, leave your sacrifice and make things right with your brother, and He will receive it (Matthew 5:23-24). I take what Jesus taught literally.

People take the Word of God  too lightly. They need to make sure their hearts are right before God. I remember the day I got saved. I forgave my father for the things he had done. I felt a genuine love for my father; I saw him as a lost soul.

Do you have someone who you need to forgive? It could be your father, mother, brother, sister or someone else who has hurt you. It might not be possible to go to them, but take care of it with God. Otherwise, unforgiveness and bitterness will eat you up like a cancer. Do not die with bitterness in your heart. You need to reconcile––forgive and forget.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
