Are You Feeling Tossed to and Fro?

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1:6-8

When we ask God for wisdom, He will answer us. Then we must move in the direction He has led us. If we have asked God to help us, then why do we doubt His answer? As Christians, we should not stand still in unbelief. In fact, unbelief is a sin. If we continue to be worried about our problems, then, in reality, we do not believe God’s wise answer to our prayers. We need to go forward by faith. Is God’s wisdom not sufficient for us? Through our trials, God has to teach us how to walk by faith.

Such was the case on the Sea of Galilee, when Jesus said to His disciples, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Jesus was asleep on a pillow when a great windstorm arose. The disciples believed the ship was going to sink. What did the disciples do? They woke Jesus, crying out, “Teacher; do you not care that we care perishing?” Jesus rebuked the wind and waves. Did they forget that as long as Jesus was on the ship, He would see them through to the other side? (Mark 4:35-41)

Christians should not become unstable like the waves; they should be steady and on course. When they believe our God, there is tranquility, peace––no ripples, no waves. Christians should enjoy peace and rest, knowing their problems are in the mighty hands of God. They can go to sleep like a baby, knowing God will come through! We must not forget He is still with us. We will not perish! God is directing our lives. Jesus is the Captain of our ship; we will not sink!

O Lord Jesus, I would traverse the sea of life with thee as my Pilot, Owner, and Captain.
