The Blessings of the Gospel of Christ

It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things. Therefore, when I have performed this and have sealed to them this fruit, I shall go by way of you to Spain. But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
Romans 15:27-29

The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write14 amazing letters. The Epistles are full of doctrine, and we can clearly see how the Holy Spirit led, and guided Paul in writing them. In ministry, the Lord also provided for Paul’s needs.

At this time, the people in Jerusalem were hurting, but Paul never begged for funds. Hearing about the necessities in Jerusalem, the Christian churches reacted and sent money to Paul. He was now on his way to Jerusalem to give them much needed financial help. He wanted to minister to the saints––believers––but he never caused people to be dependent on him. Those in need must learn to trust in the Lord.

The churches let the Lord move in the hearts of the people as they gave an offering. Those who gave were not mentioned by name. The main focus was not to be on those who gave, but to take care of the church in Jerusalem. Imagine, both Jew and Gentile were becoming one in Christ.

However, this would be the very last time Paul would journey into Jerusalem. In Rome, he would be killed. Yet Paul knew he was not alone; God was with him. He did have some close relationships with fellow believers, but He spent more time alone with God. Paul was bold, and his love for the people was evident.

His visit to Jerusalem was not all about the gift of money to help minister to their material needs. He was coming with the blessing of the Gospel of Christ. Sharing the fullness of the Gospel was central to his visit. He planned to instruct and edify the body of Christ in the city.

Apart from the bright hope of the gospel everything would be meaningless.
