National Day of Prayer

“When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:13-14

In these last days, God has let the whole world know that He is in control. This pandemic is just a little taste of how God can stop the world. God loves mankind (John 3:16), but I believe He has allowed this situation to cause people to look up because our redemption draws nigh (Luke 21:28). This is a brand new time in history for the Church, and I believe God is speaking to us. More than ever before, Christians will have to spend time on their knees in prayer to get close to the heart of God.

Most of us have been sheltering in place in our homes. Yet think how much more can be accomplished for the kingdom of God, as we are on our knees in our homes. In humility, we must humble ourselves before God and rid ourselves of any sin in our houses. Families should have devotional time at home. Everyone should be in the Word and in prayer. We need fresh bread—manna—from God’s Word each day if we are to hear from the Lord.

The voice of God needs to be heard. These are difficult days. Lay aside phones, iPads and computers to listen for His voice. I believe as we sit still and listen to the Lord, we can go forward with an even greater vision and passion. In these last days, do not grow slack; be determined to fulfill your call—very important!

In times of pestilence, we must use common sense, but our trust is in the Lord. Christians should not be motivated by fear, but by faith. God is everlasting. He never sleeps or slumbers. He is always there for us. I do not think we shall come out of this period the same. We have gained a greater sense of self-denial and shall be forever changed.

As we unite in prayer, we are reminded that there is no burden too heavy for God to lift or for this country to bear with His help.
