Sealed with the Holy Spirit

In Him [Jesus] you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in which also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
Ephesians 1:13-14

After hearing the truth of God, those who have trusted in Jesus Christ for their salvation by faith are given the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). The Holy Spirit is God; He is the third person of the Godhead. The Holy Spirit dwells within believers:

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? (1 Corinthians 6:19 AMP)

Jesus did not leave believers to cope with life on their own. He sent them a Helper: ...I [Jesus] will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever (John 14:16).The Holy Spirit comes alongside us to help us:

...the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you (John 14:26).

Christians are sealed by the Holy Spirit. People from the east understand the meaning of a seal. It spoke of ownership. Jesus paid the down deposit; we belong to Him and have become His property. He purchased us, body and soul, by His blood, shed on the Cross of Calvary! The seal of the Holy Spirit indicates that the process of payment has been completed, and an eternal inheritance is now guaranteed for us.

When a person hears the truth of God’s Word, they can come to know Christ: So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). The Holy Spirit brings conviction to their lives (John 16:8-11), and, as they accept Christ, the Spirit of God has the power to regenerate the sinner’s life.

...according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit....
~Titus 3:5~
