A Venture of Faith
Now it happened one day that Jonathan the son of Saul said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison that is on the other side.” But he did not tell his father.
1 Samuel 14:1
Jonathan decided not to tell his father about his secret mission. King Saul was in charge, but because he was carnal––governed by his flesh––he was not in tune with God or with what the Lord had placed in the heart of Jonathan to do. Saul was no longer being led by the Lord. If Jonathan’s father had been in tune with the Lord, he would have been in one mind with his son in the venture of faith he was about to take.
At times, there are Christians who are hesitant when it comes to going out into a venture of faith. Understand, there is a faith that is foolish––when a believer decides to jump in faith and hope they make it. No, a true venture of faith is not blind faith. God will confirm it. A venture of faith happens when God places something to do in your heart. When you see a need, you first pray about it. Then God will confirm what you are to do. He will open doors. God confirms He will be with you in the venture.
A venture of faith happens when you are in tune with the Lord. God has often placed me in different circumstances and given an urgency in my heart to stop and minister to people. If I see an accident on the freeway, I stop and talk to the people who may be injured. On other occasions, the Lord opens doors for me to speak to a homeless person, a business owner or youth hanging out in the streets. Whatever it is, I know the Lord has me on a venture of faith.
If we are spiritual men and woman, we should discern when God is opening a door for a venture in faith. We should be in tune with God and each other. Be in prayer. Maybe there are some of you who God is calling to take a new venture of faith.
A life of faith involves hard work, courage and discipline.
