Be Free in Christ

And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
Galatians 5:3-4

These are very powerful words spoken by Paul to the Galatians. These were words of warning given to those who were seeking justification through the Law, not through faith. The Galatians, by attempting to become justified by the Law, had, in fact, fallen from grace.

Theologically, some Christians have a false idea in their minds that once they become a Christian, they are eternally secure. Even though they have been delivered from their bondage of sin, they believe they can go right back into the world to live a life of willful sin. They think they can remain under the grace of God and can come back to Christ whenever they feel like it, and He will forgive them.

I ask you, “Is it alright to continue to live a life of sin because the grace of God will cover you?” Paul the Apostle, in Romans 6:1-2, answered that very question for us: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

The liberty Christ gives to us is not so we can do whatever we want! Believers in Christ are to be dead to sin! Do not presume on the grace of God. In Christ, we are to be dead to sin. Why go back to live in a sinful lifestyle? We cannot live a life of willful sin and call ourselves Christians. It is an impossibility! A walking contradiction! There will be dire consequences.

If you came out of drugs, drinking, sexual adventures or violence, make sure you do not feed your fleshly desires; instead, starve these fleshly desires to death. As a Christian, be obedient to the Word of God. Enjoy the grace, love and mercy of God. You want to remain free in Christ!

Liberty is not the same as license; to be free is not to be free and easy; the Christian is not free to please himself but to please God.
