Slanderous Reports

For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner? And why not say, “Let us do evil that good may come”?—as we are slanderously reported and as some affirm that we say. Their condemnation is just.
Romans 3:7-8

The Apostle Paul made sure that people understood the importance of having integrity in their lives. Integrity was a characteristic that people needed to see in the life of a Christian.

Unfortunately, there are Christians who are guilty of stretching the truth. For instance, when a believer gives their testimony to others and exaggerates their story, they are actually guilty of not speaking the truth to people. They may attempt to excuse themselves by saying, “Look at the people who got saved!” In reality, they desire a platform to promote themselves just to become famous. Understand, God will not give His honor to them, but He will still honor His Word.

The Holy Spirit has to do the work through a person’s life, and then God alone receives the glory and honor. People should not do anything to build themselves up while they are neglecting to give God the glory. Seriously, pride will cause a person to fall, and it is a long way down!

Another area people need to be careful about is not giving slanderous reports––false accusations. It is important to have all the true facts before a person opens their mouth to speak. As a Christian, speak truth and have integrity; otherwise, you will have to give an answer to God. Believers need to do things right, according to the Word of God––this is our high standard. We need to speak truth.

Among family, there can be situations of conflict where one family member will attempt to destroy another member of the family by saying things to other people that are just not true. Remember, God is the One who judges.

He that perverts truth shall soon be incapable of knowing truth from the false. If you persist in wearing glasses that distort, everything will be distorted to you.
