According to Grace

Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.
Romans 4:16

Paul addressed the Jews and the Gentiles as he spoke about faith and grace. God’s salvation was given to them both, not through works, but according to the grace of God. Paul, as a theologian, expounds on this very point in Galatians 3:26-29:

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Grace is God’s unmerited favor towards all mankind. This is also confirmed in Titus 2:11NIV: For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. When Jesus came from heaven to earth to die for our sins, grace and truth were attributes ascribed to Him (John 1:14).

Not only is Jesus’ character gracious, as a benefactor to us, He has extended grace––grace is expressed to us through Christ. I thank God that I have accepted the free gift of salvation through the grace of God extended to me though Jesus Christ. He took me out from among this sinful world (2 Corinthians 6:17). When I trip and fall, as I often struggle with wanting to react to someone who has wronged me and who has triggered anger within me, the Lord is always there, reminding me to be obedient to His Word. I need to share the love of Christ with them!

Are you aware that God’s grace and truth are extended to you through His Beloved Son Jesus Christ? Why not accept Jesus as your Savior and experience His wonderful grace, working in your life today.

We will never properly understand the work of God which takes place in the Christian life unless we first of all have some kind of grasp of why we need the grace of God.
