Walking in Steps of Faith

And he [Abraham] received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be imputed to them also, and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised.
Romans 4:11-12

God formed a covenant relationship with Abraham through circumcision. Notice, the word seal; it indicates “man’s need for spiritual cleansing.” Abraham was the father of all Jews, both believing Jews and believing Gentiles. Abraham bore a physical relationship with the nation of Israel through circumcision, but also bore a spiritual relationship with everyone who believes by faith––Jew or Gentile––in Jesus Christ.

Paul knew many Jews were bound by the Law of God, and they were not free. Once again, Paul wanted to make sure people clearly understood Abraham’s relationship with the Lord. God declared Abraham righteous because of his steps of faith. Paul repeated the reality of faith to them––the just shall live by faith.

Here we are, Jew and Gentile, all from different cultures and denominations, yet when it comes to Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God, we are all the same. We have to believe by faith in Jesus Christ––I love that! In our personal lives, each one of us needs cleansing from sin. It is faith that settles the issue of our salvation. God has given us eternal life. One day we are going to see Him––we are going to be with Him, and I will see you there!

In this spiritually dark and wicked world, are you walking in steps of faith with God?

If Enoch could live and walk with God by faith in the midst of his sinful generation, we likewise should be able to follow his example, because the human race is the same and God is the same!
