Faith in Jesus Christ

…just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; blessed is the man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin.”
Romans 4:6-8

Abraham was accounted righteous––as if he had never sinned. Justification means to “acquit, to declare a person righteous or right with God.”

David was a man who loved God, yet he sinned. When David repented, he experienced the joy and truth of God’s forgiveness. Even though he reaped to his sin, he trusted God by faith for forgiveness. His sin was covered, which was true in the Old Testament, but Christ’s atonement in the New Testament made an end of sin. A Christian can trust in this truth.

Think of the tremendous torment people go through when they are not set free of their sin. How the devil pounces on them! Sin hinders a person’s life from serving God as they are ridden with guilt and condemnation. It can drive a person insane! These people will not be able to enjoy the Christian life! Once again, that is why Paul said:

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:1-2).

A person needs to walk in the Spirit to be set free of sin; otherwise, if they walk in the flesh, they will remain in bondage––justifying themselves, making excuses, and hiding their sin. They will never enjoy the benefits of God or how He wants to use their lives.

In these last days, men and woman must not compromise, but stand on the truth of God’s Word and the righteousness of Christ. Yield yourself to God and submit to Him. Obey His Word, and then you will be able to do what God has called you to do.

Faith points us beyond our problems to the hope we have in Christ.
