The Forbearance of God

…being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Romans 3:24-26

Paul explained to the Jews the Gospel of justification. Jesus became the propitiation [through Christ’s atoning sacrifice, His death on the Cross, God now shows mercy to any sinner who believes on Christ for salvation] for all mankind. People try so hard to be good, but there is no one good; we are all guilty before God. As people truly repent and acknowledge that the law has condemned them and made them guilty, they can turn to Jesus and become righteous before God. Jesus can make them white as snow and take away their guilt––so beautiful. It is so easy, but so hard for people to accept God’s salvation through justification by faith.

Understand, people have no peace with God unless they come through Jesus. He is our propitiation––He is the one who justifies. He is the One who saves––the One who forgives and forgets our sin. He takes away the guilt and brings peace into our lives. He is the source of our righteousness.

By the precepts commanded in God’s law, people are pressured into the realization that they need Jesus Christ. They have to turn to Jesus for redemption! It is His blood that has purchased us. Remember, the Jews would shed the blood of animals to cover their sin, but Jesus’ blood takes away sin, once and for all! Do you have faith in Jesus Christ for salvation?

God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His justice, because in His forbearance He had left sins committed beforehand unpunished—He did it to demonstrate His justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
