Our Deliverance

…who gave Himself for our sins, that He [Christ] might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Galatians 1:4-5

Paul reaffirmed that Jesus Christ is our atonement––our sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins. Christ accomplished our salvation on the Cross where He suffered and died. Our sins are put away; they are remembered no more. Without Christ we are dead in our sins and on our way to hell:

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind (Ephesians 2:1-2 ESV).

Christ delivered us from this present evil world. Satan tries to make us sin so he can take us to hell, but Christ delivered us from sin. Christ has not taken us out of this world but has delivered us from the power of this world, and has made us to sit with Christ in heavenly places:

…God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:4-6 ESV).

We are in the world, but we are not of the world––so beautiful. As we are in Christ, our eternal destination has changed. We have inherited eternal life––all because of the grace of God.

God has given every person a will to either reject Him or accept Him. Where does your life stand? In the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, or are you still dead in your sins? Your deliverance, according to the will of God, has been paid for! To Him is the glory for all eternity!

The only way to avoid despair is to place our faith in Jesus Christ for the salvation God provides.
