Neglecting Christian Duties

Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
James 4:17

Consider the words James used to conclude this important Scripture. Christians will be held accountable to it. If we know to do something good and yet we ignore doing it, it becomes sin. Obedience is such an important thing in the life of a Christian. Whatever God tells us to do, we need to do it.

Has God shown you a specific need in the body of Christ? Once God ministers to you, do you do anything about it? God wants people to worship Him in Spirit and in truth, which includes obeying the promptings of the Holy Spirit in our hearts to do good. Christians are to meet the needs that God has shown them. The Scriptures teach us to do good:

Proverbs 3:27: Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so.

Luke 6:38: “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Galatians 6:2: Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Hebrews 6:10: For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

Hebrews 13:16: But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.
