Sowing and Reaping

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
Galatians 6:7-8

Are you aware of the law of reaping and sowing? Surely this is a true Law of God! Even though God forgives us of our sins, we still reap the consequences of our sin, and sometimes we reap for years! We all do! I hate it, but what can we do? That is why I try to speak to young people while their hearts are still soft. I warn them through the Scriptures to help keep them from sowing to their flesh. If only they would listen, they would be helped. Yet, looking back, I did not listen to my parents when I was young. Unfortunately, many young people are reaping to their sins––now they know. That is the way life is!

I believe with all my heart, we need to give good counsel to our young people, especially our children. They are often experiencing tremendous peer pressure. When a person sins against God, and sins against their own body, (1 Corinthians 6:18), and they repent, they are forgiven, washed and cleansed. Yet all of a sudden, here comes that wave of reaping after they have sown to the flesh. For some people, even though God has forgiven them, they may reap the consequences and die of AIDS.

Underline verse 8. Nothing good can come from your flesh. This Scripture has another strong warning for all of us. If you sow to the flesh you are going to reap corruption, but if you sow to the Spirit, you shall reap everlasting life. How do you sow to the Spirit? It is by reading your Bible, praying, fellowshipping, attending Bible studies and retreats. Sit at the feet of Jesus and let the Word of God take effect in your life. Walk by the Spirit of God, and He will transform your life. Sow to the Spirit!

...if you go on living in sin, you will wake up, one day, surrounded by the fruition of your own guilt in all its awful enormity.
~C.H. Spurgeon~
