Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn-bushes or figs from thistles?”
Matthew 7:15-16

Jesus warned His disciples about false prophets––those false religious leaders who did not know God. He spoke of the Pharisees, Sadducees and scribes who knew the Word of God. Even though they had memorized the Scriptures and could readily quote them, they were far away from the Kingdom of God. These religious leaders had a lot of pride and knowledge, but they did not practice what they preached. They were hypocrites, and many were wolves in sheep’s clothing.

There are many religious people who look like Christians; they seem to outwardly wear the garments of Christianity, but their actions prove them otherwise. You may ask, “What do you mean?” In their lives, there is no practical application of Christianity. They might have a lot of knowledge about the Bible, but they do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ. There are people who are false and are always trying to take you away from the truth of Christ. You need to be careful of them.

It is important to be a good fruit inspector and learn to discern who really is a Christian from those who profess Christianity. What is the true fruit to be found in a Christian’s life? It is the love of Jesus Christ. God can reveal what is inside a person’s heart and show you who are false and who the real Christians are.

Self-righteous, religious people who do not have a personal relationship with God will ultimately fall under God’s judgment if they do not repent of their sin.

The only safe place for a sheep is by the side of his Shepherd because the devil does not fear sheep, he just fears the Shepherd, that is all.
