The Celtic Christians of old once believed that there was a layer so thin they could just walk through it from one external dimension into a spiritual dimension of reality. For the elderly apostle, however, it involved more than stepping through an open door; God also gave him a vision. Often a thin line is the only thing separating us from seeing something grand from God. That is, sometimes we lack the ability to look just one dimension further. John saw a throne in his vision.
