“Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church.”
(Matthew 16:16 KJV)
When Peter reflected on the significance of his name and its association with the stability of Christ, he must have recalled the times when he acted more like a pebble than a rock. Perhaps Peter had in mind that fateful night when his Lord depended on his confession of who He was, but he denied Him. Yet his mind quickly shifted to that day he finally lived up to his new identity by preaching with strength, stability, and endurance. These times of defeats and victories in Peter’s life are such an encouragement to us Christians living under constant pressure.
