Mercy triumphs over judgment! (James 2:13). Lord, I want to enjoy the freedom of forgiving others.
Be still, and know that I am God (Ps. 46:10). Having a quiet, patient spirit throughout the day is countercultural in our harried world, but its effects can be life changing for us as well as for others.
Anger in itself is not necessarily wrong. But impatient anger can be destructive.
If we wait until the people around us rise to a higher standard before we speak words of kindness, we may never speak.
When has God's kindness motivated you to be kind to someone else?
[I] will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them (John 17:26). Every night as her mother tucked her in bed she told Mary Beth, "Always remember: Mommy loves you. Daddy loves you. And Jesus loves you most of all."
In what areas of your life might you be lying to yourself?
"[Keep] a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander (1 Pet. 3:16)". Even in our failings, we can reflect an authenticity that leads others to a perfect God.
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth (1 John 3:18). If generosity became a way of life for the church you attend, what might it look like?
The lack of courtesy in our society gives us more of an opportunity to stand out as loving people.
