Unwanted Evangelism

A pastor in Dallas was previously a salesman for a large telecommunications company. When he was young, aggressive, and a new follower of Jesus, he was traveling with a seasoned salesman to call on a customer.

This aggressive young man brashly asked his older peer if he knew Jesus. The older gentleman angrily retorted, “I’m Jewish. This conversation is inappropriate. If you ever bring this up again, I’ll report you to human resources!”

1 Peter 3:15 teaches, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”

This Jewish man eventually accepted Christ, but he might have had an easier start had this young man been more gentle and respectful earlier.
