Pleasing Me

Two competing organizations offer Integrity Resource Center a finder’s fee for any referrals we send their way. The challenge is one of these organizations is willing to pay double what their competitor pays.

One of the biggest challenges to making wise ethical decisions is the desire to please myself. When I have to make a choice, and one of the choices is potential gain for me, suddenly my choices are clouded.

James 3:16 teaches, “For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.”

When selfishness has the possibility of clouding your judgment, consider avoiding the temptation altogether or at least be as transparent as possible. Sharing all facts, with all parties, will allow others to make informed decisions and, for you to maintain your integrity.
