The Gentle Judge
By Rick Boxx

Jennifer Lopez's first night of auditions as a new judge on American Idol appeared harder than she thought. It's one thing to know you have to deliver hard truth to someone, but when you're face to face and it's time, it's another matter.

The contrast between former judge Simon Cowell's brash and insensitive way of dismissing contestants and Jennifer's gentle approach was immense. The challenge will be for Jennifer to remain gentle and not become callous.

Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:1-2, "Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love."

If you have to regularly deliver bad news, avoid callousness and embrace gentleness.
