In today's culture the Supreme Court says they define marriage. Individuals declare that they will decide for themselves about their relationships and views of sexuality, but how do we know whether or not all this supposed enlightened, progressive individuality will end up generating life and happiness in the end? Oprah can conduct her interviews, and pollsters can track changing opinions, but who alone can guarantee that we will be making life affirming decisions not only for ourselves but for our children? When asked about the fragility of marriage in Matthew 19, Jesus told the religious leaders of his day that they needed to go back to the beginning, back to Genesis where the Creator laid out the basics of marriage and family. I'm betting that his definition will be the right one.
