I see a lot of friends trying to live just in terms of this present life. They believe that this life under the sun can yield meaning and personal happiness and fulfillment so when their marriage doesn't seem to be adding up, they eject out of it. The sad truth is that Ecclesiastes has already made it clear. If we live only for now, we will discover that it's all just a breath--a vapor that disappears. Jesus promises to give us a life when the sun disappears and, ironically, when we are willing to lose our life for Jesus and his kingdom, we realize he gives us the gracious gift of love in our marriages and families. Live in the Son, not just under the sun.
