It's supposed to be a new story of liberation. There's actually no male or female. Each individual can shape and change their sexual identity by the power of their internal spirit and with the help of plastic surgeons they can make their physical body conform to their true internal self. But how do we know that this is actually a redemptive story of liberation and deliverance?
The Apostle Paul challenges us to remember the true creation story and its declaration that God created humans male and female. The Apostle Paul counsels believers in Jesus to maintain the male/female distinctive. In the false worship of Corinth they played with sexuality and the reversal of roles. This filtered into the church and Paul warns that this tears apart God's created design.
So dad and mom when your seven year old boy shares that when he looks in the mirror he sees a girl and your little girl declares she's actually a boy, maybe before you celebrate their right to choose their true sexual identity and consult the doctors about blocking puberty and allow the plastic surgeons to make alterations, you should question your faith in this new cultural story.
It's actually not a new story. The evil one has been attacking God's image and the maleness and femaleness of humans from the beginning. His false worship often blurs sexual distinctives and we need to think hard about what the God had to say about the sexes in 1 Corinthians 11 before we buy into the latest cultural fad. He's still saying that in the beginning He made the male and female, and He said, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth."
