Worriers tend to keep focusing on the distant future and they make all kinds of guesses about the terrible things that might happen. What if? What if? What if? The question digs a deep rut in their brain. In the Lord's Prayer Jesus teaches us how to break the cycle of destructive worry. He teaches us to humbly pray, “Give us today the daily necessities that we need.” His children learn to focus on what they have.
Jesus is telling us not to plan. There are many verses in His Word about planning, but in this focus on simply asking our Heavenly Father to meet our needs today, Jesus focuses our attention on the present time we have and anticipation for how God will give us what we need for today. It's time to obey the Lord and talk to God about our specific daily necessities instead of worrying.
