Paul’s going to make an incredible statement. He’s saying to the Corinthians, “Remember what you were. Some of you were rankly immoral, some of you were thieves.” He goes on, naming one horrible thing after another, and then he says, “That’s what you were.” There's only one who can turn things around like this and if we genuinely come to Him, we do become something different. Jesus' gift of salvation isn't a quick ticket at the end that allows you to enter heaven. It's a daily transformation now. It's the actual manifestation of a new life, and others should be able to see the transformation Jesus is making in our lives day by day. This process began when we believed in Jesus, and it continues, not because we now work hard to earn His approval, but because we continue to believe and receive His life and power.
