Life Between the Trees

There is a lot of history, a lot of meaning behind the Christmas Tree. Some would say it is pagan in its origins, others give it meaning that goes back to the original sin. But there is a danger in getting caught up in the world’s version of the Christmas Tree and missing the real meaning of Christmas.
This Christmas season, Ben Cachiaras, the lead minister with Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, Maryland, is helping us look past the “rif-raf” of the world’s version of Christmas to see the really big picture of what Christmas represents in a series Ben calls “Don’t Miss the Forest for the Tree”.
Imagine with me, for a moment… in the middle of the most perfect garden you can imagine; a tree. This is no ordinary tree, it is the tree of life, eternal life. Now, imagine again, that tree made new, this time near the throne of the eternal, creator God. You know, you and I, we live in a space between those two trees. Got your attention? Today, five speakers alternate monthly: Bob Russell, for 40 years he was Senior Minister of Southeast Christian Church, Louisville, KY.; Rick Atchley, Senior Minister (multiple sites), The Hills Church, Dallas, Fort Worth, TX.; Tim Harlow, Senior Minister (multiple sites), Parkview Christian Church, Chicago, IL.; Aaron Brockett, Senior Minister (multiple sites), Traders Point Christian Church, Indianapolis, IN.; and Ben Cachiaras, Senior Minister (multiple sites), Mountain Christian Church, Bel Air, MD.
The Christians Hour, with host Stan Smelser, is part of Gospel Broadcasting Ministries. GBM is a long-time member of NRB and is a global effort to tell the world about Jesus Christ and present "New Testament Christianity on the air."
