Persistence in Problems

July 29, 2014
It's not fair! Those three words describe most of our reaction to suffering, especially when we see it happen to "good" people. For some reason, even though the Bible says to expect trouble in life, we're surprised by it. As author David McKenna writes, we eventually ask three questions: Why me? Why this? Why now?

This is the 6th message in Jill's 8-message series, "Triumph in Trouble," on the life of Job.

For some reason, even though the Bible says to expect trouble in life, we're surprised by it. As we learn from the life of Job, he couldn't make sense of what was happening to him, but he accepted the trouble and trusted God to get him through it. This is the 2nd message in Jill's 8-message series, "Triumph in Trouble," on the life of Job.

There is hope and light even when we don't have all the answers. As we're able to accept trouble or suffering, we receive the Messenger. And as we worship Him and praise Him for the good and the bad, He gives us strength and teaches us more about His sovereign will. Job 1 & 2

Time and time again, Jill Briscoe has met and ministered to suffering people. Many of them have experienced trials we cannot even comprehend. In this stirring message on the trials of Job, Jill shares what she has learned from the examples of those who responded rightly to suffering. Jill shares her own struggles with waiting through difficult situations and overcoming the temptation to think that if God doesn't answer prayers the way we want, God isn't good. Jill shows us how we can learn to say, like Job, "I will accept it, as from a good God," and allow our situation to increase our faith and dependence on our Redeemer.

When we're suffering the consequences of our own poor choices; when we're bearing the brunt of someone's vengeance and anger; when we feel absolutely on our own and life is not working out as planned, that's when God will turn up. He wants to walk down the stairway of heaven right into our hearts to make us aware of His personal interest and concern. We learn in Scripture how God wrestled Jacob to the ground one night and turned him upside down - so he could live right-side up. Jacob became a "prince" with God instead of a pain. This message by Jill Briscoe is taken from Genesis 28:10 & 32:22-31.
