To Walk in Harmony, the Wife! Part 2c

January 2, 2012
As we finish up our study on walking in harmony, we explore the believer’s place in marriage from a Biblical perspective. Pastor Jeff emphasizes the importance of child rearing. In a society that seeks to draw away and destroy our children, don’t leave them at home without parents to guide them. Parents need to be active in their children’s lives!

As we finish up our study on “Heaven in 2011,” we need to ask ourselves, “What do we need this year?” Pastor Jeff encourages believers to pray. Our country needs revival, and this can only be accomplished by the prayers of God’s people. Our hope is Christ’s coming to establish His kingdom. Pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

As we look to the coming of the Lord, we inevitably think of Israel. Pastor Jeff brings our attention to the strife happening in the Middle East today. Though the nation of Israel is hated by many of its neighbors, God’s hand of protection is on his chosen people. In these end times, remember those who do not know Christ and share His love with them!

The coming of the Lord is very near. Today, Pastor Jeff exhorts us to not be deceived. Don’t be like those who refuse to acknowledge His coming. Jesus has given us signs in His word to signal His return — and these things are coming to pass in the world today! The Lord is coming soon, and we must be ready.

Sometimes God’s directives can be hard to swallow. As we continue our study on the wife’s role in walking in harmony, Pastor Jeff shows how important it is for the wife to be a keeper at home. In this age of career-driven women, the children often suffer. Yes, we have to make ends meet — but follow the Lord’s directive to care for your family first, and watch how He provides everything you need.

Submission is the key word for godly wives. Though this can be difficult to accept, keep in mind that your service is to the Lord, not to man! Pastor Jeff makes the point that even if your husband is not following the Lord, you can minister to him by respecting his authority as your husband. As God is the head of the church, so the husband is the head of the wife.

Society seeks to tear down what God seeks to bless. Today, Pastor Jeff tackles some sticky issues regarding marriage and divorce, especially if one spouse is unsaved. 1 Corinthians 7:14 tells us that the unbelieving spouse is sanctified by the believing spouse. Don’t wait for your spouse to change. Minister to him or her by your godly example.

Christmas time can bring burdens. Some are worried about their financial situations. Others worry for unsaved family members. Pastor Jeff encourages believers that we can experience joy, even in the midst of trials. Remember, it’s not about your own situation — it’s all about Jesus. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill to men.”

For believers, Christmas is all about joy! This holiday, we celebrate an event that is central to Christianity — Christ’s birth. Today, Pastor Jeff tells us that the world can’t experience this joy because they don’t have Christ. Unfortunately, Christmas is a depressing time for many unbelievers because they don’t have the contentment that comes from knowing Christ. Do you know someone who is unsaved? Don’t let Christmas pass without sharing the joy of Christ’s birth.

In a humanistic and godless society, God’s design for marriage is often ignored. Don’t yield to your sinful nature! Troubled marriages result from lack of time in the Word. The Bible is powerful, and when we study it, we start to become more Christ-like.

Every marriage has its share of struggles. In today’s study, Pastor Jeff reminds us that marriage was the first institution that God created. He intended for this relationship to be harmonious and fulfilling. God knows what makes us happy, and in Ephesians 5, He leaves simple instructions so that we can have joyful relationships that please the Lord.
