God is good and soverign.  The Bible says that He loves and cares for us.  He's the One that provides the breath in our lungs, and He's the One that keeps our heart beating.  In trials we can rest upon His promise, that "all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

Jesus told His disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them.  The Spirit then empowered them to be witnesses for Christ.  This same power is available for all believers today, and it's essential to have in trials and hard times.  Today we'll continue to look at the example of Job, and learn from his witness in his time of testing.

Trials and hard times are a natural part of any life.  But for a born-again believer in Christ, Jesus is with you in the storm.  We could search the scriptures and see many examples of trials.  But there's none better than the Old Testament character of Job.  We'll learn about this man in our New Years message called "The Job Syndrome."

2,000 years ago in the little town of Bethlehem, Jesus the Son of the Living God was born of a women.  He was fully God and fully man, and He wa born with a mission to die.  His death and resurrection is the true essence of the Christmas Story.  As we give gifts this Christmas, let us not forget Jesus...the greatest gift that was given to mankind.

The prophet Micah pronounced a unique prophecy concerning a little town in the east called Bethlehem.  He said "But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you will come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting."  This prophecy was fulfilled more than 2,000 years ago when Jesus Christ was birthed into the world.  We'll learn some incredible details of this event in a message called "The Christmas Story."

Before Jesus left His disciples for Heaven; He promised that the Holy Spirit would come.  This promise was fulfilled not only for the disciples, but for all believers today.  As God's children operate in the Spirit, they are able to do the mighty works of God.  Pastor Jeff will teach more on this as he concludes his message in 2 Kings chapter 2.

Jesus said "He who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I am going to My Father.  Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, so that the Father may be glorfied in the Son."  Because of Jesus, God has given His children the privilege of doing His work by the power of The Holy Spirit.

The prophet Elijah had a remarkable ministry.  God used this ordinary man to do extraordinary things.  But his time on earth eventually came to an end, and his ministry was handed over to his well-taught student.  On today program Pastor Jeff talks about the importance of training and handing over the baton to the next generation.
