Sowing & Reaping, Part 3

January 29, 2015
When we sow to the spirit we reap everlasting life.  And the benfits of this start immediately.  Today on Sound Doctrine we'll learn that sowing to the Spirit brings God great pleasure, because it's the very thing that we were created to do.

The law of gravity says "what goes up, must come down."  This law applies to all mankind.  The same concept is true with God's law of sowing and reaping.  It doesn't only apply to Christians, but to everyone.  Today on Sound Doctrine we'll take an in-depth look at sowing & reaping from our study in 2 Kings chapter 8.

When we share God's Word, we are sharing eternal truth.  In Matthew 24:35 Jesus said "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away."  Today Pastor Jeff concludes his message on sharing the good news, and explains that God's Word is being fulfilled before our very eyes.

Christians are blessed to be a blessing.  We were meant to share the goodness of God, and not hoard it to ourselves.  Today on Sound Doctrine we'll continue part 2 of a message called "The Good News Shared" and Pastor Jeff Johnson encourages us to share the gospel with those around us.

Romans 8:28 speaks volumes to the uncertainties of life.  It says "We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."  Whether it's a trial, or fear of the future, God is in control.  Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff shares about the goodness of God from 2 Kings chapter 7.

Jesus did many miraculous healings during His public ministry.  One of which he healed a man who was blind from birth.  When the religious leaders ridiculed this man, he remarked "one thing I do know, I was once blind but now I see!"  This has spiritual application for every life today.  While many are still blind to the things of God, multitudes of people have had the scales lifted from their eyes.  Pastor Jeff talks more about this in the conclusion of a message called "God's Temple Built & Filled."

The Bible says "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  And "without faith it is impossible to please God."  At times, it's difficult to understand the things God does in our lives.  But we must continue to walk by faith and not by sight.  Today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff continues to teach through 2 Kings chapter 6, with a message called "God's Temple Built & Filled."

Jesus said, "Whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock."  Obedience to God's voice is foundational for our walk with Him.  Pastor Jeff Johnson will teach more on this, in a message from 2 Kings chapter 6 called "God's Temple Built & Filled."

There's a specific choice we must make everyday.  Will we sow to our flesh or the spirit?  The results are clear for each choice.  Corruption will come as we sow to the flesh, and eternal life will come as we sow to the spirit.  Today, Pastor Jeff concludes 2 Kings chapter 5, and warns on sowing to the flesh.

In the days of Saul's reign as the 1st King of Israel, he was given specific instructions to destroy the people of Amalek.  However, he chose to keep the spoils of the land and spare their king.  In response, the prophet Samuel asked a profound question that is relevant to all believers today.  He said "what is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to His voice?  Surely, to obey is better than sacrifice."  Today on Sound Doctrine we'll talk about hearing God's voice, and obeying what He says.
