“Maranatha” The Lord Cometh, Part 2

June 5, 2012
All the prophecy we need is located right in Scripture. Sadly, there are many false prophets today who claim to know exactly when Christ is coming, and who make projections based on false pretenses. The Scriptures says that prophecy is to comfort, edify, and exhort us to serve the Lord until He comes again. Ask God for wisdom to discern the truth!

The Bible reveals many signs that point to the end times. In Daniel, we see that knowledge will increase. The world around us is certainly increasing in knowledge! We have incredible technology, but we will also have increased knowledge of the secrets of scriptures. Stay in the Word, and be amazed at what God reveals to you.

Are you trying to rely on your faith without putting any effort into your relationship with God? Pastor Jeff warns us against floundering in our Christian walk. We can’t just sit back and rest on our laurels! Our walk with the Lord is a continuous process, one that we have to work on daily. Christ desires to be glorified in us, and that can’t happen unless we’re growing in our walk with Him.

What does God expect from us? As we continue through 2 Thessalonians, Pastor Jeff reminds us how much God is doing for us, even when we’re going through troubles and tribulations. The Lord calls us to bless Him in every situation. God requires us to have faith in Him, whether our circumstances are good or bad. Through trials, God makes us better Christians, and we are better able to serve Him.

Those who don’t know the Lord will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. The Bible makes it clear that unless you know God, you’re lost for all eternity! Though some argue that hell does not exist, Scripture makes it clear that hell is real. Believe God’s Word, receive it, and you can immediately walk in the Light and escape from an eternity of punishment.

Don’t be discouraged by your afflictions! God knows what we’re experiencing, and He allows us to endure these things for His own glory. Even though we might be hurting on the outside, our inward man is being built up. Remember that man can harm our physical bodies, but our spiritual bodies will never die.

As we start our study in 2 Thessalonians, we see Paul’s encouraging counsel to the church at Thessalonica. Pastor Jeff reminds us that the closer we draw to the Lord, the more Satan seeks to draw us astray. Don’t be afraid of this persecution! It’s the only way we can mature in the Lord.

Have you ever struggled with knowing how to praise someone for a job well done without encouraging pride or boastfulness? Paul gives us the right example. In 1 Thessalonians, he praises the church for their godly qualities, giving thanks to the Lord for their faithfulness, instead of giving the credit to man.

The most exciting thing in the Bible is that Jesus is coming again! Pastor Jeff encourages us to do as Paul says, and live responsibly until Christ comes again. Most importantly, we are to give thanks to God in all things, whether we are experiencing trials and tribulations, or a season of bountiful blessings.

God has chosen us to represent Him on earth. Each and every day we interact with individuals who don’t know the Lord. Don’t be liable for these souls! We should be excited to spread Christ’s love to others.

Have you ever wondered what happens to those who never hear the gospel, even once in their lives? God says that all who die without knowing Him will perish in Hell. As believers, we have the burden of witnessing to others. God promises that His Word will not return void. Pass on the good news of the gospel, and let God do the work!
