Back in Heaven Where He Belongs, Part 3 of 3 (Single Sermon)

April 23, 2014

In Israel, you can stand on the very mount from which Jesus Christ ascended to His Father in heaven. Prophecies foretell His return to that very Mount of Olives to establish His kingdom. This message focuses on how Jesus is ruling in heaven even now.

For 40 days the resurrected Jesus walked the roads of Israel. But then the time came for a journey into the sky. Angels attended as Jesus rose into the air until the clouds took him out of sight.

The scene at the Mount of Olives was unforgettable; Jesus rose into the sky and out of sight. His ascension marked the beginning of a new ministry: interceding for His people at God’s right hand.

Believers are commanded to love God supremely and cast off every weight and sin that besets them. Then they can run life’s race at top speed, knowing that the goal line will bring them face to face with the God they love.

Believers are to give God first place in their lives, running life’s race for no other reason than to express their love for Him. In fact, we are commanded to love God supremely – everything else takes second place.

Believers are to run life’s race for Christ, who taught us to love God with all our being as the first and greatest commandment.

When a man or woman believes in Christ, many deep-seated desires begin to change. We learn to become givers rather than takers. God wants us to see our money as a trust to manage, not a possession to squander.

Believers in the race of life need to come to grips with money.  Many of us grip our pocketbooks until our knuckles turn white. But God wants to show us the joy of generosity.
April 14, 2014
Christians running the race of life frequently get tripped up by matters of money. Whose money is it really? Is it mine to do with as I please, or am I just taking care of it for someone else? Christ had much to say about money, which we will learn about shortly.

For every Olympic track star, there are thousands of runners who will never make the team. Yet that is no reason to give up. Many believers with few talents approach life with a clenched fist rather than an open hand.
April 10, 2014
Although we are not equal in abilities, we are equal in our obligation to use our abilities wisely. In Bible times, a talent was a large sum of money. Today it signifies any giftedness. Either way, the parable of the talents shows us how to manage what we have well.
