It's been said, go into marriage with your eyes wide open..

Dave Wilson: It’s been said, "Go into marriage with your eyes wide open, but after marriage, eyes half-closed."

Ann Wilson: Oh, that’s a good one. We should do that.

Dave Wilson: It basically means do your homework and know who you're marrying, but after you get married, it's so easy to focus just on the negative that you forget all the positive.

Ann Wilson: Yes. And so I would say start praying that God will help you to see and say the best things to your spouse after you're married.

Dave Wilson: We all have negatives, and you can easily focus on those, but a mature, happy marriage steps back and says, "I'm not just going to look at the bad; I'm going to look at the good as well, and I'm going to celebrate that."

Ann Wilson: The Bible says to take the log out of your own eye before you try to take the speck out of your brother's eye—or your spouse's eye.
